Alright, I started making a rag quilt today for Jose's mom, Lili's Abuela, for Christmas!! I actually just went out today and bought a rotary cutter thingy, and a ruler. (I already had a self healing mat thanks to my scrapbook addiction! lol) I bought the first three fabric prints in the picture for the front of the quilt, along with about 10 squares that I'm going to print pictures on with this cool printable fabric...so I'm gonna print out pictures of Lili and the boys, so that his mom can have a quilt of her grandchildren on it, since she's not able to ever spend time with them, living in Mexico City and all...And the last fabric choice is for the back of the quilt..I'm so excited to make this quilt.
This is my first time ever attempting any sewing project this big..I just learned to sew right before Lili was born. And all i sewed was a little strip of fabric to some prefold cloth diapers to make them cute for Lili's bum! So thanks to my parents for letting me borrow one of their sewing machines...I am able to get my creative juices flowing while Lili takes her naps! So all I got done today was cutting all the squares for the quilt. I'm doing 6x6 squares, so I had to cut 7x7 to allow for sewing and the rag part i will be cutting to make it look shabby and cute! I really didn't think i would even get that far today, so i held off on buying the batting today. So now i wish i did so i could still be working on it right now...but instead I'm just gonna blog about it! ha! I'm just curious how sewing is going to go when Lili is sleeping? I hope it doesn't wake her up. And not necessarily the machine, but Canela barking at the machine..But we will see how it goes. Well i will keep the update of this quilt going when i get a chance! I just need to get it made and shipped to mexico before christmas!
